OVERVIEW

It is a frustrating process when you put a significant effort into developing your business case, only to have it returned with requests for further information or clarity regarding its content. Worse still is a rejection without the ability to discuss and justify the needs. This course is designed to assist you with targeting your business case to its intended audience with appropriate information and structure. The session will help you build a cohesive case with an appropriate level of justification and supporting data. This practical one-day highly interactive course provides you with the opportunity of working through a real life example to assist you in understanding how the process can be applied to your own situation. It is therefore recommended that you bring ideas regarding a business case that you need to develop.

COURSE CONTENT

  • determining the context (strategic need) of the business case
  • identifying the parameters/ scope of the business case
  • defining aims and objectives
  • stakeholder analysis and engagement
  • developing the argument/case for change: sources and use of data, and impact of change/no change
  • options assessment: risk analysis, benefit analysis, conformity with standards, regulatory, legislative requirements etc, resource requirements, schedules and interfaces
  • Defining the implementation plan and approach

By the end of this course attendees should be able to:
  • identify stakeholders and their needs
  • align business cases with strategic needs
  • develop a robust options analysis
  • state the elements required for a cohesive and persuasive argument for the business case
