Your professional association, your IPAA

About Us

As a non-profit, non-partisan and apolitical professional body, the Institute of Public Administration Australia Northern Territory provides a powerful platform for public sector employees to connect, learn and grow their careers in public administration and public purpose work.

Our Northern Territory Division seeks to offer support and resources to all of the hardworking and highly valuable employees across the public sector that make the Territory such a fantastic place to live and work. We do this by offering events, courses, activities and countless opportunities to learn and equip yourself with everything you need to have a successful career in the public sector.

Our Mission

For nearly 30 years, we’ve made it our mission to promote professionalism and excellence in governance and public administration through healthy discussion and the sharing of ideas and information. We’ve created a vibrant atmosphere where our members and non-members are encouraged to express creativity and thoughts on trends, practices and innovations in public administration.

The aim of IPAA NT as a professional association

Our History

IPAA has a rich history that began in South Australia in 1927 and saw each state and territory establish their own division to assist those working in the public sector.

In 1980, the individual state and territory divisions formally joined together to create a unified National Council of IPAA.

Since then, we’ve grown to become a highly respected Australian-wide association that is open to and enjoyed by public servants in local, state and federal government, as well as universities, private organisations and the wider community.
